THE PUPPY HOUSE
We have built a wonderful facility for our birthing mothers and their puppies here at Palmhaven!
The "puppy house" is designed as a home for our mothers and their puppies. Consisitng of three seperate temperature controlled rooms, the first room serves as an office and waiting room, where there is a sink for bathing the puppies, a refrigerator for keeping medication, and a television and coffee pot for those long nights of labor!
The second room is the "birthing room" which contains four seperate whelping stalls. This is where the mothers are kept during the last stages of pregnancy, allowing for extra care, and a safe and healthy environment for giving birth. This area allows us to give the birthing mothers individual attention when needed, and also provides them with privacy. These stalls have automatic waterers, feeders, and access to an outside area. The puppies remain here with their mothers until they are wheaned, where they are then moved to the "puppy room".
The puppy room has an inside play, eating and sleeping area, adjoined to an outside play and excercise yard. Our puppies here at Palmhaven are loved from the first moment they are born. As they grow, they are played with on a daily bases, getting plenty of human interaction. When they are ready to go to their new homes, they are very well adjusted, socially adept, and loveable puppies!
